The Doe’s Editorial Guidelines

All communities and opinions are welcome. The Doe does not filter voices or narratives. This is a place for you to share experiences, blow whistles and spark conversation.

Maintaining your voice is paramount when publishing your story. The Doe’s editorial team primarily edits for length and clarity.

Contributors are encouraged to read previous stories to get a better idea of how to construct their narratives.

More About How We Source Narratives

What we’re looking for

  • Original, honest, verifiable first-person narratives you’d like to share—anonymously.
  • Stories ranging from 800 to 1,600 words, though drafts of any length within reason will be considered.
  • Distinctive, vivid anecdotes—moments from your life that help paint a bigger picture.

What we do not publish

  • Stories that incite violence, harmful or dangerous content, harassment or outing.
